The Ten Best Moments from An Idiot Abroad: The Bucket List

This past weekend marked the conclusion of the second season of An Idiot Abroad in the US. The season featured Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant sending Karl Pilkington out to check off “bucket list” items. Of the list they offered Karl, he chose riding the length of Route 66; traveling the Trans-Siberian railway; swimming with dolphins; spending a night on a desert island; whale-watching; meeting gorillas; and climbing Mount Fuji. With so many locales and so much Karl, there was bound to be loads of great moments. The Many Faces of Karl Pilkington

There were several great new TV shows that debuted during the fall 2010/spring 2011 TV season. None made me laugh quite like Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s creation, An Idiot Abroad. The gist of the show is that Gervais and Merchant send their friend, Karl Pilkington, around the globe to visit each of the 7 Wonders of the World. You may recognize Pilkington as the orange-headed character from HBO’s The Ricky Gervais Show. Along the way to visiting the 7 Wonders, Gervais and Merchant concoct multiple hilarious and bizarre activities for Pilkington to partake in while staying in the various host countries. The resulting video footage is then edited into a travelogue show. The activities are amusing enough, but the true humor comes from Pilkington’s reactions. While performing the activities, he espouses a sort of brilliant moron zen, accidentally stumbling upon odd nuggets of truth, and it’s all coupled with ridiculous facial reactions. Five Shows I Think You Should Be Watching



I won’t even try to hide it- I am 100% “that guy”. I will harass the crap out of people about TV shows that I like. “Oh, you haven’t seen that yet?”, it starts. “Well you really should. It’s amazing”. Fast forward to the next time I see that same person. “Hey, did you ever check out _______?”. After the inevitable ‘no’, I continue the assault. “Oh, wow, you have no idea what you’re missing”. And on and on until eventually, people either tell me to shut the hell up and leave them alone about it, or they finally watch it.
